The myth of essential oils – of course yes, safer not necessarily

Ο μύθος των αιθέριων ελαίων

The current trend in food products, detergents and especially cosmetics, is clearly in favor of natural ingredients. Return to nature!!
The slogan is, the more natural, the better, the safer for the body and especially for our skin.

Away from synthetics, preservatives and chemicals in general! All this is described as the great risk for allergies, skin diseases, and even cancer, but with little scientific evidence. You can read our previous blog post about it.

Especially for essential oils, the internet and the print media are full of information and articles in favor of their preference. Herbal remedies, ointments, creams, various preparations for aromatherapy, etc etc.

However, most essential oils are irritating and should not be used unless they are in an oil solution such as almond oil or grape seed oil. Under no circumstances should they be applied to the skin as is. There is a serious risk of photosensitivity and general exacerbation of skin disease.

The most famous that have beneficial properties are lavender, mint, tea tree oil, orange and lemon. However, careful use should always be made of both the skin and the inhalation.

At Seamuse we use a lot of essential oils always in accordance with the official EU directives on cosmetics.

We strictly adhere to the permissible limits for washable items, such as soap, shower gel, shampoo and the corresponding limits for non-washable items, such as creams, lotions, etc.

In this way, we are sure that we offer aromatic but safe products.
